Pension Lump Sum Income Tax Calculator Ireland

Use previous retirement lump sums to calculate remaining lifetime bands and Income Tax on a proposed payment. This free pension lump sum income tax calculator ireland shows the calculation and its assumptions so you can compare your own figures.

How the retirement lump-sum income tax calculation works

Lifetime cumulative first €200,000 is tax-free; the next €300,000 is taxed at 20%; the remainder at 40%. Allocate only the proposed payment to the remaining bands.

Income Tax only: after-Income-Tax amount is not final net cash. The slice above €500,000 can also attract USC through PAYE, which is excluded. Scheme withdrawal limits and special foreign-pension treatment are not assessed.

Applicable rules year: 2026. Sources checked 2026-10-06: Lifetime Income Tax bands; excludes USC Published rules are used, not proposed changes.
