Budget 2027: Working Family and Child Support payments

The €30 Working Family Payment threshold increase and €6 child-dependent weekly increases.

Sources checked .

Who it affects and when

Audience: Working families and households receiving qualifying child-dependent additions.

Timing: Announced within the 2027 welfare package; check the scheme's payment implementation.

What was announced

Working Family Payment
Income limits increase by €30 per week for every family size. This is a threshold increase, not an automatic €30 increase in the payment itself.
Child Support Payment
The weekly child-dependent rate increases by €6: under-12 rate €58 to €64, and age-12-and-over rate €78 to €84.
Benefit distinction
Child Support Payment is a qualifying addition linked to a welfare payment. It is not the same as the monthly Child Benefit payment.

Practical next steps

  1. Use the income limit for your actual family size.
  2. Check which qualifying payment provides the child-dependent addition.
  3. Keep recurring changes separate from one-off supports when estimating household cash flow.
