Electricity tariff comparison Calculator

Compare two single-rate offers with standing charges and credits. This free electricity tariff comparison calculator shows the calculation and its assumptions so you can compare your own figures.

How the electricity tariff comparison calculation works

Period cost = energy × unit rate + days × standing charge − credit. Crossover solves the two cost equations.

Use prices on the same tax basis and include all recurring charges in standing costs. Credits may have eligibility conditions; time-of-use tariffs need weighted unit rates.

Using this calculator

  1. Enter your own figures in the labelled inputs. Keep the currencies, units and time periods consistent.
  2. Choose any applicable rate profile, pattern or assumption shown for this tool. Open additional inputs when relevant.
  3. Review second tariff saving and crossover kwh, then read the stated assumptions and eligibility conditions before using the result.
