Sources checked .

Who it affects and when

Audience: Households seeking social housing, affordable housing or homelessness support.

Timing: Delivery allocations are for 2027; access follows each scheme's application and delivery timetable.

What was announced

Social homes
The Government overview allocates €3 billion to social housing delivery, including funding for 11,250 new social homes.
Starter Homes
Over €1 billion is allocated to the Starter Homes programme, supporting 8,500 homes through affordability schemes, alongside additional Help to Buy support.
Housing supports
The overview says funding supports 110,000 households through social housing supports and new supply, with continued homelessness-service investment. These delivery figures are not individual allocations or automatic approvals.

Practical next steps

  1. Use your local authority's actual application and waiting-list process.
  2. Check the specific affordable purchase or rental scheme's income and property conditions.
  3. Treat programme delivery targets as national plans rather than a promise of an available home on a particular date.
