Sources checked .

Who it affects and when

Audience: People using public healthcare and families seeking home support.

Timing: Services announced for 2027; actual availability follows health-service rollout.

What was announced

Contraception
The Free Contraception Scheme expands to include people up to age 37. Access remains through the scheme's participating services and eligibility rules.
Home support
The Government announces 1.8 million additional home-support hours for older people, separate from 191,000 extra disability home-support and personal-assistance hours.
Mental health and surgery
The overview provides 33,000 additional hours of free community counselling for specified groups. Surgical-hub capacity expands through additional theatres and six-day operations at regional hubs.

Practical next steps

  1. Check with the actual healthcare service about eligibility and access.
  2. Request a needs assessment where the service requires one.
  3. Do not treat a national capacity increase as an individual appointment or entitlement.
