Return on investment Calculator

Calculate total and annualised net returns. This free return on investment calculator shows the calculation and its assumptions so you can compare your own figures.

How the return on investment calculation works

ROI = net profit ÷ initial investment. Annualised return treats net proceeds as an end-of-period value.

The model is not IRR for multiple cash-flow dates. Include relevant tax and fees in costs.

Using this calculator

  1. Enter your own figures in the labelled inputs. Keep the currencies, units and time periods consistent.
  2. Choose any applicable rate profile, pattern or assumption shown for this tool. Open additional inputs when relevant.
  3. Review roi percent and net profit, then read the stated assumptions and eligibility conditions before using the result.
