Calculated example result
- Net Annual Childcare Cost
- €8,414.80
- Average Monthly Cost
- €701.23
How to interpret the result
A comparison is useful only when its quantities and periods match. The result helps organise a decision; it does not predict future prices, household behaviour or unexpected costs.
Hold the quantity or time horizon steady while changing a price or option. Then check whether delivery fees, restrictions or a changed purchase quantity would reverse the comparison.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Do not compare different pack sizes without converting to a common quantity.
- Avoid mixing monthly and annual figures without a deliberate conversion.
- Include the actual terms of discounts, subscriptions and payment plans where supported.
Assumptions and sources
Universal NCS requires a child aged 24 weeks to under 15 years and a participating Tusla-registered provider. Enter only eligible out-of-school/ECCE hours. Income-assessed subsidy rates and sponsor awards are not estimated; use the actual-award mode.
Rules checked . Baseline rules year: 2026. Reviewed scope: Universal NCS only; income-assessed rate calculation not released. This does not verify every selectable year, date or Budget announcement profile.
